Posters for Empowering Adolescent Girls
A poster making workshop was conducted by KHPT (Karnataka Health Promotion Trust) as an attempt to symbolically put forward the voices of adolescent girls. Around 21 girls from 7 villages in Karnataka participated in the one day workshop which emphasised on the girls ability to solve their problems themselves by giving messages to various stakeholders teachers, parents, community through drawings.
Five biggest challenges faced by these girls were identified as follows:
Child Marriage, Gender Discrimination, Teasing by Boys, Problems in Continuing Education and Lack of Key Facilities.
129º took these emotions forward and developed thematic posters to be used for initiating behavioural change in the community.
